“Need a place to dispose of your fall yard waste?”
The City of Vergennes is a member of the Addison County Solid Waste Management District. The District accepts yard waste at no charge throughout the year at their Middlebury facility.
For convenience to our residents, we will open our “stump dump” for a one-day event. On Saturday morning, November 5 from 8 a.m. to noon, (same hours of the recycling center) you can bring your leaves, brush, branches, and yard plants to the “stump dump”. It is located behind the wastewater treatment plant at the end of Canal Street. A Public Works Department employee will be on staff to direct you to the disposal area.
Jim Larrow, Public Works Supervisor was presented with two Certification of Completion plaques from Saint Michael’s College at the City Council meeting on 26 July 2011. Jim exceeded the required 175 training hours by completing 184 hours in the Master Roads Scholar and was awarded the highest Roads Scholar Level. Additionally, he also completed 126 hours of the Vermont Roads Scholar Level III program. Both of these programs involve training in Safety, Technical, Equipment, Supervisory and Environmental instruction.
Congratulations Jim!
