SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MARCH 6, 2017
MINUTES
Mayor William Benton called the duly warned special meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in the City Manager’s office at City Hall. The purpose of the brief meeting was to sign the Warrant and to conduct a tour of the so-called “ticket booth” that is shared by Friends of Vergennes Opera House and Vergennes Partnership as well as the conference room that is currently under renovation. Those in attendance were:
Mayor William Benton City Manager Mel Hawley
Alderman Mathew Chabot City Clerk Joan Devine
Alderman Lowell Bertrand Michael Daniels
Alderman Mark Koenig Andrew Fritz
Alderman Lynn Donnelly
Alderman Jeff Fritz
WARRANT: The Warrant in the amount of $70,469.15 was reviewed and passed for signatures of approval by the City Council.
TOUR: City Manager Hawley spoke of the complete renovation of the space used by Friends of Vergennes Opera House and Vergennes Partnership and inquired from the City Council if they wanted to do the same depth of work in the conference room. The materials for the wainscoting and trim around the doors will cost about $2,800 not to mention sheetrock, electrical upgrade, window replacement, etc. It was the consensus of the Board to not replicate the space but get as close to the original as possible with alternate materials.
ADJOURNMENT: The regular meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m. by motion of Alderman Lowell Bertrand. The motion was seconded by Alderman Koenig with all voting in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Vergennes City Clerk
