Vermont’s largest Memorial Day parade is hosted by American Legion Post 14. The theme for 2018 is “Honor and Commemorate: Freedom Isn’t Free.” The parade will begin at 11am on on Monday, May 28 from Vergennes Union High School. It will wind its way through the streets of Vergennes until it finishes at the City Green around 1:30 pm.
The former ‘stump dump’ located adjacent to Vergennes Wastewater Treatment Plant is not in operation and has been closed to the public for quite some time. The State advised us several years ago that we cannot offer this service as we are not a solid waste facility.
If you have yard waste, you may dispose of it at the Addison County Solid Waste District (388-2333) on Route 7 South in Middlebury. You also have the option to burn yard waste on your own property but will have to call the Fire Warden to get a burn permit (Jim Larrow 989-9652 or Jim Breur 316-2067).
